Murat Özdemir was born in
Ankara, on December 1967. He studied medicine in Hacettepe University School of
Medicine in Ankara between 1985 and 1991. He completed his cardiology training
as a cardiologist in 1996 at Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Hospital, one of the major
cardiology training centers in Turkey. After 2 years of private practice at
Sevgi Hospital in Ankara, he started his academic career at Gazi University
School of Medicine, Ankara, as a lecturer in October 1998. He received the
“associate professor of cardiology” degree on April 2003 and was awarded the
“professor of cardiology” degree on October 2009. He still is among the faculty
members of the department of Cardiology at Gazi University School of Medicine.
Dr. Özdemir published more
than 60 scientific papers in international peer reviewed journals. He has
participated in various national and international medical meetings as both a
speaker and chairperson. He is among the 5 associate editors of the Archives of
the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the society’s official journal. He also
serves as one of the executive officers of the Turkish Board for Accreditation
in Cardiology.
Dr. Özdemir is a member of the
Turkish Society of Cardiology and The European Society of Cardiology. He has
been awarded the degree of “Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology” and
is about to be announced as a “Fellow of the American College of Cardiology” in
March 2013.
Dr. Özdemir is among the
faculty members of the department of Cardiology at Gazi University School of
Medicine. He is mostly busy with teaching and research activities at working
hours. He accepts his patients at his private office at off-hours and during
weekends. Beyond clinical cardiology, his main topics of interest are
arrhythmias, implantable cardiac devices and interventional cardiology. He has
access to major private hospitals in Ankara for interventional procedures and
hospitalized patient care.
