Associate Professor of Neurosurgery R. Alper Kaya has been actively working as a neurosurgery specialist for 22 years in Istanbul. Having spent most of his career at the Neurosurgery Clinic of Istanbul Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, he became an associate professor of neurosurgery in 2009 at that clinic. From the beginning of 2010, he has been conducting his studies at the Neurosurgery Clinic of Istanbul Medical Park Bahçelievler Hospital, the biggest private medical establishment of Turkey.

He has broad experience especially in the fields of spinal surgery, brain and spinal tumors surgical treatment (both adulthood and childhood). In total, he has published 27 international and 56 national articles and book chapters in the said fields. As a result of his researches, he has received three science awards.
